Preneed isn't just good business. It's a service that families value.

Advance funeral planning gives families peace of mind, helps them plan meaningful memorial experiences and removes the burden of decision-making at the worst possible time. For funeral homes, a well-run preneed program builds trust in the community and supports long-term business stability. NFDA provides resources to help you understand the landscape and serve preneed families well.

The Certified Preplanning Consultant (CPC) program.

Body: The CPC designation is the national standard of excellence in advance funeral planning — established in 1997 and accredited by the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice and most state licensing boards. The self-study program covers the Funeral Rule, preplanning ethics, funding options, contract standards, listening and sales skills, marketing, and creating meaningful ceremonies. The CPC credential demonstrates to families that you’re an expert in preplanning — and sets you apart in your community. Open to NFDA members and non-members.
