Membership Dues and Structure

NFDA uses a funeral home-focused membership structure. All dues are paid by the firm, any legal entity that owns one or more funeral home facilities within a state. Licensed funeral directors and embalmers who own or are employed by a dues-paying firm automatically become NFDA members. Firm dues are based on annual caseload: the total number of death certificates filed, minus those filed as an agent on behalf of another funeral home.

If your funeral home is in the District of Columbia, Kansas, North Dakota, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia or Wyoming — where funeral homes maintain memberships in both state and national associations — you will continue to pay dues through your state association.

Code of Professional Conduct Membership means holding yourself to a standard.

NFDA’s enforceable Code of Professional Conduct has been in effect since January 1, 2004. It covers the obligations of funeral professionals in five areas: to families, to the decedent, to the public, to government and to NFDA. A Professional Conduct Committee investigates and resolves complaints in a fair and consistent manner. Members and consumers with questions can contact NFDA at 262-789-1880.
NFDA Bylaws Governance

NFDA’s Constitution and Bylaws govern the structure, membership, and operations of the association.
Even if our funeral home wasn’t a member of the NFDA, I would be, because of the resources, the help, the education, and the impact that NFDA is trying to do all throughout the world in death care.
