Membership Dues and Structure
NFDA uses a funeral home-focused membership structure. All dues are paid by the firm, any legal entity that owns one or more funeral home facilities within a state. Licensed funeral directors and embalmers who own or are employed by a dues-paying firm automatically become NFDA members. Firm dues are based on annual caseload: the total number of death certificates filed, minus those filed as an agent on behalf of another funeral home.
If your funeral home is in the District of Columbia, Kansas, North Dakota, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia or Wyoming — where funeral homes maintain memberships in both state and national associations — you will continue to pay dues through your state association.
